SOAK is a mobile app that can provide you with a totally different laundromat experience. It enables you to search for laundromats near you and reserve available machines before you go!You can pay by phone, and receive a code that keeps the machine locked while you go on with your life. Clean up your laundromat experience with SOAK.This laundry mobile application is designed for people who don’t have a washer/dryer in their living space and want to avoid waiting for one. SOAK gets to work searching a network of smart laundromats. A GPS function allows users to locate the nearest one and reserve available machines for their use.The app sports a security option which prompts the user to enter a 4 digit passcode in order to unlock the machine. SOAK makes quarters obsolete and will even keep track of users’ laundry history--where, when, and how much is spent and notify you when it’s ready.
What makes this app so unique
- As an international student living in a foreign country, I have had to overcome many cultural and lifestyle
- differences. Back in Taiwan, all most every apartment or house has its own laundry within the unit or building.
- It’s different living in downtown San Francisco where most of the apartments are old and some of them have laundry rooms but some don’t. Laundry here is really a bother. In order to save money, I always wait until the clothesbasket is full to do laundry. It’s the worst when all the machines are in use, especially after lugging my big basket all the way there. And now, I am forced to sit and play my Iphone for two hours so my clothes don’t get stolen again like last week, when I dared to go eat dinner. I create SOAK to solve these problems.
- There is no laundry app which include all the function that SOAK has.
- Now many famous brand like Samsung or LG already release their smart house washer and dryer. It will become a future trend. If we can apply this concept to apartment laundry room or laundromat, it will really improve people's life.
